Gothic Quarter

The Gothic Quarter is the centre of the old city of Barcelona. El Call, the medieval Jewish quarter, is located within this area too. The Barri Gotic retains a labyrinthine street plan, with many small streets opening out into squares.

Sagrada Família

The Basílica i Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família, commonly known as the Sagrada Família, is a large Roman Catholic church, designed by Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí (1852–1926). Although incomplete, the church is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Though construction of Sagrada Família had commenced in 1882, Gaudí became involved in 1883, taking over the project and transforming it with his architectural and engineering style—combining Gothic and curvilinear Art Nouveau forms.

Casa Batlló

Casa Batlló is a building restored by Antoni Gaudí and Josep Maria Jujol, built in 1877 and remodelled in the years 1904-1906. The local name for the building is Casa dels ossos (House of Bones), as it has a visceral, skeletal organic quality. It was originally designed for a middle-class family. The building looks very remarkable — like everything Gaudí designed, only identifiable as Modernisme or Art Nouveau in the broadest sense.

Palau de la Música Catalana

The Palau de la Música Catalana is a concert hall in Barcelona. Designed in the Catalan modernista style by the architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner, it was built between 1905 and 1908 for the Orfeó Català , a choral society founded in 1891 that was a leading force in the Catalan cultural movement that came to be known as the Renaixença (Catalan Rebirth).

Montserrat (mountain)

Montserrat, located near the city of Barcelona, is a multi-peaked mountain, part of the Catalan Pre-Coastal Range and Spain's first National Park. Named for the Caribbean island of Montserrat, the mountain, one of the most visited attractions in Barcelona, is well known as the location of the Benedictine abbey called Santa Maria de Montserrat. The mountain's main peaks are Sant Jeroni (1,236 m), Montgrós (1,120 m) and Miranda de les Agulles (903 m).
